Transform Indiana

Notes from 6/20/02 meeting
by Eldon Kibbey

We had to privilege of hearing from Dr. Charles Ware of Crossroads Bible College & Dr. John Perkins of the Spencer-Perkins Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Dr. Perkins expressed his appreciation for what we were doing, by saying, “God is working where people are coming together in collaboration.”

We presented the idea of “Transform Indiana,” and asked the question, “What would a transformed Indiana look like?”

Dave Putman mentioned a Transformation video that illustrates what has happened in 4 cities around the world that HAVE been transformed by the gospel.  One of the characteristics is that these cities have closed their jails.  The catalyst for these changes was the coming together of pastors in those cities, for prayer.  (For more information see http://www.sentinelministries.org/ )

Our group then presented the following responses:

Pastors & leaders praying together, with & for one another, in community

Prayer walking in neighborhoods

Addressing the issues that have been left to the unchurched

Schools teaching differently

Community groups of Christians speaking out, sharing Biblical truths

Men passionate about the truth of God

Unity

Palpable community

Ex 34:10 – something new – a God thing

Salvations – a passion for souls

Obvious where the Church is – shown by its love

Cogent gospel message, lived out by the people

            Persecution – dying to self

Christians known for “Christ” instead of issues

Praying in the rotunda of the State Capitol
