Transform Indiana
Meeting Notes 12/11/02
The December meeting was held at the new Urban Collaborative Center at 12th & Central, from 12:00noon – 2:00pm, with Neil Cox hosting. The following were in attendance: Eldon Kibbey, Neil Cox, Ian Hookfin, Ray Childers, Marvin Gainer, David Putman, Tia Nielsen, Gary Kirschman, and Bill Bean
Attendees introduced themselves for the benefit of Bill Bean, who shared his involvement as a pastor in a “Simple Church”, which is similar to the House Church Movement.
We viewed the 3rd city of the Transformation video, Hemet, California. We agreed that this video brought the reality closer to home, since it was an American city, and one of the group had lived near there.
Some of the key points were:
Action steps:
Prayer
“Spiritual mapping” to determine where the strongholds are
Intercessory prayer focused on the strongholds
Emphasis on “Kingdom growth,” rather than “church growth”.
The mayor and other leaders working with the churches, uniting “loose yarn” into a “fabric” – similar to building a wall together, rather than building silos.
Tia Nielsen submitted suggested revisions to the proposed Purpose Statements, and it was suggested that we study those on our own, and discuss them at the next meeting. (see attachment)
The PowerPoint presentation called, One Great City, was converted to a Word document, and was distributed for personal review. (see attachment)
A Transform Indiana Organization Chart was presented by Eldon, as a start toward connecting people and groups into functions. It was suggested that members of the Leadership Team review it and make changes to be discussed at the January meeting.
Database 5000 was shared by Neil as a key factor in the growth and development of Transform Indiana. We need a simple way to connect people and groups around the state. The Internet provides the simplest way to connect, but developing the database may not be a simple, or inexpensive, process. It was suggested that we contact organizations that currently have online database systems, such as www.simplechurch.org, and see if we can use their system.
Action steps:
Seek out other transforming ministries & invite representatives to join us
Study the Purpose Statement, apply it personally, and propose revisions
Study One Great City, apply it personally, and propose revisions
Pray about the need for an Internet database, and talk to those who understand that technology
Next meeting will be Wed, Jan 15, 2003, 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm, at the
Urban Collaborative Center at 12th & Central.
Respectfully submitted
Eldon Kibbey
